President Donald Trump has praised the “incredible capabilities” of the U.S. military in what he describes as a “very complete” war against Iran. Trump noted that the Iranian navy and air force have been destroyed and that the regime’s communications are “totally gone.” He told reporters in Florida that the “short-term excursion” was essential to protect American lives from an imminent threat.
The President’s comments come amid a leadership change in Tehran, with Mojtaba Khamenei succeeding his father as Supreme Leader. Trump has expressed total lack of respect for the new leader, calling him a “lightweight” and an “unacceptable” choice. This suggests that the U.S. is not interested in a diplomatic solution that leaves the current power structure in place.
The war has seen a high volume of strikes, with the U.S. targeting over 3,000 sites in the first ten days. Trump claimed that 80% of Iran’s missile launchers have already been eliminated, making a significant counter-attack unlikely. Despite these claims, Iranian drones have continued to target energy infrastructure and residential areas in the Gulf.
Economically, the war has been disruptive, but Trump remains confident that the “little pause” will be short-lived. He warned that any further Iranian aggression in the Strait of Hormuz would lead to a U.S. response that is “twenty times harder.” The President’s strategy is to use the threat of total destruction to force a total surrender.
As the conflict lingers, the humanitarian situation in Lebanon and Iran is becoming more dire, with over 1,200 reported deaths. Trump’s focus remains on the strategic victory and the removal of “evil” from the region. The President’s next steps will determine if the “very complete” war can actually be brought to a close.
