Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel issued an unequivocal declaration of support for India, stating “Israel stands with India” in its fight against terror. The message followed a deadly explosion in Delhi that is being investigated as a terrorist attack.
Netanyahu’s statement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed “deepest condolences” for the eight lives lost. “Israel stands strong with you in sorrow and in strength in this time,” he wrote, offering support from the Israeli people.
The Prime Minister emphasized that acts of violence cannot defeat the national will. “Terror may strike our cities, but it will never shake our souls,” he said. He praised the “unyielding spirit” of India, linking it to Israel as “ancient civilisations” united by shared values.
This sentiment was explicitly echoed by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, who posted, “Israel stands with India in its fight against terror.” Saar also extended his condolences to the families of the “innocent victims.”
The attack, which involved a car bomb near the Red Fort on Monday, is now the focus of a major probe by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The agency has registered a case and is investigating a suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad module.
