Matt Cameron Steps Down from Pearl Jam After Historic Run

Pearl Jam’s longtime drummer Matt Cameron has officially parted ways with the band, concluding a remarkable 27-year run. The seasoned musician shared the announcement on Monday, describing the experience as a life-changing chapter.
“After 27 fantastic years, I have taken my final steps down the drum riser,” Cameron said. The statement reflected both pride and humility, though no specific reason for his departure was provided.
Cameron wasn’t part of the original Pearl Jam lineup, but his contributions were foundational. He stabilized a rotating drummer position and helped shape the band’s sound on albums like Binaural and beyond.
He originally rose to fame with Soundgarden and was a cornerstone of the Seattle sound. Even while juggling commitments between both groups, Cameron maintained a reputation for precision and power. His last project with Pearl Jam was their tour for Dark Matter.
